United pair Martin Dúbravka and Miguel Almirón were both in action for their countries on Thursday night.

Dúbravka started and finished Slovakia’s 1-1 against Wales in Trnava, with Parma midfielder Juraj Kucka earning the home side a share of the spoils in the race to qualify for Euro 2020 following Kieffer Moore’s opener for the Welsh.

The result keeps Slovakia firmly in contention for a place at next summer’s pan-European finals, the Sokoli a point clear of third-placed Hungary in Group E and a further two better off than Wales, though Ryan Giggs’ side have a game in hand.

Slovakia round off their campaign away to Croatia and at home to Azerbaijan next month. Prior to that, though, is a meeting with Almirón and Paraguay on Sunday night.

La Albirroja are currently on a two-match tour of Eastern and Central Europe in the run-up to their 2022 World Cup qualification campaign, which gets underway next year.

Almirón was dismissed as Paraguay lost 1-0 to Serbia in Kruševac, the United attacker having picked up two yellow cards – the second for simulation in the 54th minute.

Former Magpie Aleksandar Mitrovic struck the winning goal in the final minute.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, youngster Mo Sangare played nearly an hour as Liberia won 1-0 against Chad in Paynesville.

The Lone Stars travel to the Central African country for Sunday’s second leg as they look to progress from the preliminary set of qualifiers for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
