The Magpies’ official matchday programme, UNITED, has a Corinthian Prostars-inspired theme to it for the 2022/23 campaign, with the first issue of the series available to buy at this weekend’s double-header against Atalanta and Athletic Club at St. James’ Park.

In-form Miguel Almirón is the first to take centre stage, with the Paraguayan chatting in-depth about the pre-season gone by, and his aspirations for the campaign ahead, over the course of an exclusive, six-page interview.

Boss Eddie Howe and skipper Jamaal Lascelles both return with their usual sets of notes ahead of the two friendlies, while we have ten pages each on La Dea and Los Leones, including a view from each of the teams’ camps and a brand new A to Z feature.

Club Historian Paul Joannou delves into the links between the Magpies and the two visiting clubs to Tyneside, while regular UNITED columnist Stan Gate remembers the Black ‘n’ Whites’ trip to the Ibrox International Tournament in 1994, with the club – much like the present day – having just started to feel reborn.

Pete Graves and Jonas Rohde-Moe – the latter of the Norwegian band Pelicat, who came to the attention of the Toon Army over the summer with their Beatles-esque track The Ballad of Faustino Asprilla – each provide columns, while we launch another new feature, Gravediggers, Old Ladies and Smurfs, in which we look at some of the different clubs across Europe who also call the black and white stripes their own.

Furthermore, there’s a recap of some of the Magpies’ pre-season action, an update from the club’s Foundation and four action-packed pages for younger fans.

The 84-page issue will be available for supporters to buy around the ground on Friday and Saturday, priced at £3.50.
