Mike Dean will referee Newcastle United’s first ever trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday.

The Wirral-based whistler last took charge of a Magpies game in April, brandishing five yellow cards in their 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Dean’s other two assignments so far this season have also taken place in London, the 51-year-old overseeing West Ham United’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend, as well as Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Dean last officiated the corresponding fixture back in January 2002, showing yellow cards to Spurs’ Dean Richards and United’s Sylvain Distin as Sir Bobby Robson’s side won 3-1 at White Hart Lane.

On Sunday, he will be assisted by Daniel Robathan and Mark Scholes. Graham Scott will be the fourth official, while Anthony Taylor will take up the role of video assistant referee.
