Newcastle United youngster Lucas De Bolle has been added to the Scotland Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifiers this month.

The 19-year-old, a regular for the Magpies' second string this term, has been part of Eddie Howe's first team squad in recent weeks and has been named on the bench for four Premier League games this term.

And now the teenage midfielder is in line to receive international recognition, with Scottish-born De Bolle called up by Scot Gemmill for his side’s fixtures against Turkey on Friday, 25th March at Tynecastle (7:05pm kick-off) and Kazakhstan at the Almaty Ortalyk Stadion on Tuesday, 29th March (11am kick-off).

Gemmill made two alterations to his squad after initially naming it last week, bringing in De Bolle and Sam Long, who is on loan at Drogheda from Lincoln City.

Fellow Newcastle man Elliot Anderson is also one of Gemmill’s charges for the double-header.
