A former youth player at a number of league clubs, Davies has taken charge of one Newcastle match before - this season's 6-0 win at Queens Park Rangers.

He has refereed 19 games in all competitions so far this season, showing 60 yellow cards and three red - including one in his most recent outing, Coventry's 2-1 home defeat to MK Dons on Saturday.

This weekend, he will be assisted by Paul Hodskinson and Mark Dwyer. Peter Bankes will be the fourth official.
