Rovers go into the weekend in the bottom three - in stark contrast to the Magpies, who are top of the Sky Bet Championship and looking to set a new club record of ten successive wins in all competitions.
Coyle accepts that Newcastle will be strong favourites as a result, but he has pledged to try and take the game to Rafa Benitez's team.
"For us it is a brilliant game to look forward to, to go there and show that Blackburn Rovers are a decent team," said Coyle.
"It is a game that if we are at our best then we are more than capable of getting a positive result, but what we have to do is make sure that we are focused and ready to go for a great game.
"I think everybody would deem it the toughest fixture in the Championship.
"There'll be nearly 60,000 fans shouting and bawling and getting behind their team, but for us it is a great opportunity to go and play against good players, a good team, a team that has won nine in a row and will feel they are invincible. So we've got to go there and look to upset them and that is what we will focus on.
"We'll go there looking to be positive, look to play on the front foot and try to bring our good players into the game - but accepting that there are a lot of good players on the opposition and make sure we are ready for that."
