Newcastle No. 9 Callum Wilson takes centre stage for Sunday’s issue of UNITED – the Magpies’ official matchday programme – as reigning Premier League champions Manchester City come to St. James’ Park.

In an open, in-depth interview covering six pages, the frontman – who notched on the opening weekend of the season against Nottingham Forest – talks about his mindset, goalscoring targets and England ambitions.

Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves provides his latest column, while United Backstage, the feature in which we shine a light on some of those working behind the scenes at the club, continues with a look at first-team strength and conditioning coach James Allan.

Paul Dummett is the latest to dip his hand into The Toon Tombola, discussing dogs, Dolly Parton and alien life. Young midfielder Lucas de Bolle reflects on a taste of first-team action over the summer in this week’s Academy Diary, and Newcastle United Women’s Kacie Elson tells us all about her life and career to date. Both the Academy and Lady Magpies’ sections of the programme have been bolstered for the new campaign.

So, too, has UNITED’s chapters on the Magpies’ history and the day’s opposition. Club Historian Paul Joannou and regular columnist Stan Gate provide four pages each; Paul looks back at Newcastle’s audacious attempt to field a reserve side in the Scottish Football League system in the 1930s, with Stan bringing all sorts of black and white insignia back to light in Toon Collectables. Toon Voyage!, meanwhile, a new series looking at some of the most significant geographical locations in United’s history, continues with a look at Byker Vicarage and Dalton Street, areas where Newcastle East End plied their trade.

Furthermore, there’s a tribute to the late Laura Milburn, four pages for Junior Magpies, boss Eddie Howe and skipper Jamaal Lascelles’ thoughts ahead of the game and lots of extra reading material.

For those unable to make it on a matchday, a subscription service for the season is now in place. Further details, including terms and conditions, can be found here.
