David Coote will be the referee for Newcastle United's Emirates FA Cup third round tie at Rochdale on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 12.31pm GMT).

The Nottinghamshire-born official took charge of his first Premier League fixture at St. James' Park back in 2018 during United's 1-0 defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

In total, Coote has refereed 14 games across the Premier League, Championship and Carabao Cup this term, showing 60 yellow cards and one red card, sending off Brighton's Aaron Mooy during the Seagulls' 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.

Coote's last game involving the Magpies took place in December - a 2-1 victory against Southampton at St. James' Park - in which Coote booked Jonjo Shelvey. Coote was also the man in the middle for United's FA Cup fourth round defeat to Watford, losing 2-0 to last season's finalists.

On Saturday afternoon, Coote will be assisted by Stuart Burt and Philip Dermott while Scott Oldham will be the fourth official.
