Newcastle United fans with visual impairments will have matchday brought to life after a generous donation by the British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWFTB).

While the club already offers a live match commentary service for blind and sight-impaired supporters in partnership with BWFTB, the charity has now donated an additional ten DAB radios exclusively for fans.

BWFTB is a national charity that has been making a difference to people with sight loss since 1928.

It continues to supply specialist audio equipment to people across the country, including its flagship Sonata internet audio player which transmits Newcastle United matches.

Saul Watson, communications manager at BWFTB, said: "Newcastle United is part of the fabric of British football so for us to be able to team up with a club with so much history and passionate support is amazing.

"Last season’s partnership was such a success with our recipients telling us how fantastic it was to be able to access football on their specially-adapted sets. It really was a no-brainier to keep the relationship going.

"It’s such a great opportunity to help raise awareness to an audience who may never have heard of us before but could well know someone who could benefit from what we offer."

If you, or someone you know is registered blind or partially sighted, over the age of eight, living in the UK and in current receipt of an income related benefit, you could qualify for a free set.
