Ahead of Newcastle United's Premier League clash with Watford on Saturday (kick-off 3pm GMT), we take a look at some of the Magpies' most memorable victories over the Hornets...

Martins at the double (2006/07)

Two second-half goals from Obafemi Martins secured a 2-1 victory for Newcastle, who recorded their fourth win in five Premier League matches.

After a quiet first-half, the match sprung into life as the Nigerian forward nodded United into the lead before the Hornets swiftly repsonded with Hameur Bouazza equalising for Aidy Boothroyd's side.

With the final minutes approaching, Damien Duff supplied a deflected cross which fell into the path of Martins, who made no mistake in thumping the ball home five minutes from time.

Pérez header breaks United's duck (2018/19)

The Magpies claimed their first victory of the 2018/19 season, their most recent triumph over Watford, as Ayoze Pérez's second-half header sealed a 1-0 win at St. James' Park.

After failing to register a league win in their opening ten Premier League fixtures, United were in desperate need of maximum points to propel themselves further up the league ladder.

The only goal was netted by Pérez as the Spanish forward headed home Ki Sung-yueng's free kick in front of the Gallowgate End to end a run of five consecutive defeats against Watford, sealing Rafa Benítez's 50th win as Newcastle manager in all competitions.

Colo and Carroll clinch Championship clash (2009/10)

Goals from Fabricio Coloccini and Andy Carroll ensured a third Championship win in a row for the Magpies following a battling 2-1 victory during the 2009/10 campaign, their latest victory at Vicarage Road.

The visitors led inside four minutes following Coloccini's opener, nodding home from Danny Guthrie's free-kick before Carroll's powerful header doubled the Magpies' advantage shortly after the half-time break, the Gateshead-born striker's ninth league goal of the term.

Will Hoskins set up a nervy finale after reducing the deficit in the dying minutes but Chris Hughton's side held firm for maximum points, extending their lead at the top of the English second tier to six points.

Pancrate stunner seals win for ten-man Newcastle (2009/10)

United extended their lead at the top of the Championship after a hard-fought 2-0 home win over a spirited Watford team.

The hosts went ahead after 20 minutes when Craig Cathcart's weak backpass allowed Marlon Harewood to set up Peter Lovenkrands for a simple opener before the Magpies lost Kevin Nolan when the midfielder was shown a second yellow card in the second-half.

But as Watford searched for an equaliser, substitute Fabrice Pancrate sealed the win late on, producing a superb turn before the Parisian smashed his left-footed strike into the roof of the net.

Midfield magic on route to First Division title (1992/93)

Rob Lee and Gavin Peacock were both on target in United's 2-0 triumph over Watford in November 1992, going on to lift the old First Division title with an eye-catching 96 points.

After winning 13 of their opening 16 league fixtures, the in-form Magpies continued their impressive form as, in the 51st minute, Peacock broke the deadlock with his fourth goal in as many league matches.

Lee, who would spend almost a decade on Tyneside after signing from Charlton Athletic in September 1992, scored his first goal at St. James' Park six minutes later to extend the hosts' lead.
