Ahead of Newcastle United's Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town on Saturday (kick-off 3pm GMT), we take a look at some of the Magpies' most memorable home victories over the Terriers...

Pérez's late winner (2018)

Ayoze Pérez was the hero for the Magpies last term, turning home Kenedy's clever cross in the 80th minute as United claimed a crucial 1-0 win at St. James' Park.

Rafa Benítez's side were looking to build momentum following a 3-0 victory over Southampton but had to wait three weeks before their clash with the Terriers due to an international break.

However, after a dominant display from start to finish, the home side eventually broke down Huddersfield as Kenedy unselfishly teed up Pérez, with the Spaniard making no mistake to send Newcastle seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Nolan completes cup comeback in seven-goal classic (2009)

Newcastle advanced into the League Cup third round after a thrilling 4-3 encounter against Huddersfield, who were competing in League One at the time.

The game sprung into life after the half-hour mark through Danny Guthrie's opener for United before Huddersfield, managed by ex-Newcastle player Lee Clark, quickly responded with Theo Robinson's brace before half-time. Jordan Rhodes extended the away side's lead two minutes in the second half before Geremi pulled a goal back seconds later for the Magpies.

Shola Ameobi, introduced from the bench, levelled the scoreline with a confident penalty before Kevin Nolan sealed a dramatic turnaround as, with the game approaching extra-time, the midfielder netted the winner in the late stages.

Five-star display from United (1983)

Newcastle swept aside Huddersfield with a 5-2 thrashing in the Second Division, with the likes of Kevin Keegan, Peter Beardsley and Chris Waddle finding the target against the newly-promoted Terriers.

However, Keegan and Beardsley's first-half strikes were both cancelled out by Phil Wilson and Paul Jones as United were made to work hard for their three points. But their persistence was thoroughly rewarded in the second half as Waddle regained Newcastle's lead for the third time before Terry McDermott gave the home side breathing space.

Waddle grabbed his brace late on to add gloss to the scoreline as United eventually went on to seal promotion to the First Division, finishing third in the second tier.

The road to FA Cup glory (1955)

After a tense 1-1 draw in the quarter-final, Newcastle edged past Huddersfield with a 2-0 success in the replay to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

The Magpies, winners of the prestigious trophy in 1951 and 1952, produced a valiant performance at St. James' Park as strikes from Vic Keeble and Bobby Mitchell sent them into the last four.

Newcastle would eventually go on to reach Wembley for the third time in five years, defeating Manchester City 3-1 to lift the trophy.

Huddersfield hit for six (1952)

Newcastle brushed aside the Terriers in a 6-2 hammering, with Jackie Milburn netting a hat-trick in the process.

Bobby Mitchell grabbed a brace and George Robledo, who finished top goalscorer in the First Division with 33 goals, got his name on the scoresheet.

The Magpies achieved the double over the West Yorkshire club that season, following a 4-2 away win.
