The Little Benton Academy product scored the Young Lions' final goal in the 67th minute to keep alive their hopes of winning the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament for the third time in a row with a 4-0 victory at Stade Parsemain in Fos-sur-Mer, France.

His goal was an emphatic finish from inside the box after Chelsea's Tammy Abraham's run had been halted.

Armstrong also set up two goals - one for Leeds' Ronaldo Vieira, the other for Abraham - and while the result wasn't enough to see England win their group, they could still progress to the semi-finals as the best-performing second-placed team.

Freddie Woodman - who had been in goal for a 2-1 win over China and a 0-0 draw with Mexico earlier in the week - was an unused substitute.

Armstrong, who enjoyed a successful loan spell with Blackburn Rovers last term, has now scored for England at every age group from under-16 through to under-21 level.
