Adam Armstrong has joined League One side Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old, who has just returned from a loan spell at Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers, has joined Tony Mowbray’s promotion-chasers on a deal which will keep him at Ewood Park until the end of the campaign.

In the first half of this season, the England Under-20 international – a World Cup winner with his country last summer – made a total of 23 appearances during his time at the Macron Stadium, scoring three goals.

Last term, Armstrong was on loan at Barnsley, where he scored six in 35 outings – including the club’s goal of the season, a stunning strike against Preston.

The young forward also spent time at Coventry City in 2015/16, scoring 20 in 40 appearances and picking up a string of awards, including young player of the year, goal of the season and top goalscorer.
