The latest edition of UNITED – the Magpies’ official matchday programme – will be on sale around St. James’ Park on Saturday, with an exclusive, in-depth interview with Elliot Anderson inside.

The young gun – who made his debut in the FA Cup 12 months ago – chats in detail about the prospect of lining up at St. James’ for the first time in his fledgling career.

Elsewhere, we’re delighted to bring you a guest column from Geordie actress Natalie Ann Jamieson – who’ll be instantly recognisable to soap fans for her portrayal of Amy Wyatt on ITV’s Emmerdale.

Ahead of the Magpies’ 400th game in the FA Cup, Club Historian Paul Joannou looks back at their very first – against Teessiders South Bank more than a century and a quarter ago. Further nostalgia comes courtesy of regular columnist Stan Gate in Programme Matters, while there’s a detailed look back at how United have fared whenever they’ve been drawn against lower-league opposition in the Third Round of the competition.

In addition, we’ll bring you all you need to know about visitors Cambridge – now plying their trade in the third tier of English football following their promotion last term – as well skipper Jamaal Lascelles’ reflections on a stop-start festive period and head coach Eddie Howe’s notes ahead of the game.

If you’re not able to make it on Saturday, you can still order your programme online – available on Curtis Sport’s website here.
