News. Anderson named in Scotland Under-21 squad

Newcastle United youngster Elliot Anderson has been named in the Scotland Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifying double-header later this month.

Scot Gemmill’s side face Turkey at Tynecastle, home of Edinburgh outfit Hearts, on Friday, 25th March with kick-off set for 7:05pm.

They follow that up with a trip to the Almaty Ortalyk Stadion to face Kazakhstan on Tuesday, 29th March, with that contest due to kick off at 11am.

And 19-year-old midfielder Anderson, who is currently on loan at League Two side Bristol Rovers, has been included in the 21-man squad for the two fixtures.

The highly-rated Anderson has represented both Scotland and England at youth level, featuring for the Scots at under-16 to under-18 level before being capped by the Three Lions as an under-19.

He has been in impressive form for Joey Barton’s men since making the loan switch from Tyneside in January, scoring once and providing two assists in his eight outings so far.
