Elliot Anderson has been named in the Scotland Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifying double-header next month.

The Newcastle United youngster represented Scotland at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level, but was most recently capped by England’s under-19s in March.

However, the 18-year-old has been called up by Scotland’s under-21 boss Scot Gemmill for their back-to-back fixtures against Kazakhstan on Friday, 12th November and Belgium on Tuesday, 16th November.

Both games will be played at Tannadice, the home of Dundee United, and will kick off at 7:05pm, with Group I points at stake.

The matches will both be broadcast live by BBC Scotland, with the Kazakhstan fixture shown only on iPlayer.

Anderson has netted four times in six outings for the Magpies’ second string this term, having made both his first team and Premier League debuts in the 2020/21 campaign.
