With 52 minutes on the clock, Yedlin left teenage midfielder Christian Pulisic with a simple finish after delivering a low cross from the right.

Borussia Dortmund’s Pulisic – who became the youngest foreigner to score in the Bundesliga last year – added a second for the Stars and Stripes just after the hour-mark.

Yedlin hadn’t started a competitive fixture for the US since September, but completed all 90 minutes for Bruce Arena’s side at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

They now sit third in CONCACAF’s Hexagonal standings after leapfrogging Panama, who drew 0-0 against Costa Rica.

The US travel to leaders Mexico on Sunday, El Tri already looking a safe bet for a place in Russia next summer.
