Miguel Almirón played the whole game as Paraguay were beaten by Brazil in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night

La Albirroja fell behind to an early Neymar goal in Asuncion, before Lucas Paquetá added a second in stoppage time.

It continued Brazil's perfect qualifying campaign so far, and extended their lead at the top of the CONMEBOL qualifying group to six points.

Paraguay, meanwhile, are sixth after their first defeat of qualifying. They have drawn four of their six matches and are bidding to reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 2010.

Now their attention turns to the Copa América, which is now being held in Brazil after the South American Football Confederation moved the tournament from Argentina due to a rise in Covid-19 cases there.

Paraguay take on Bolivia at Estádio Olímpico Pedro Ludovico in Goiânia on Tuesday, 15th June, then Argentina at Estádio Nacional de Brasília seven days later.

On Friday, 25th June they face Chile at the same venue, before their final group game against Uruguay at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, 29th June.
