Newcastle came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory against Everton at St. James' Park during the 2002/03 Premiership season, with the game being remembered for Shearer's sublime volley in front of a mesmerised Gallowgate End.
The Toffees, who took the lead through Kevin Campbell's first-half strike, looked on course for a seventh successive win despite playing the majority of the league encounter with ten men.
However, in the 86th minute, Shola Ameobi nodded a long ball into the path of Shearer who, without hesitation, hit a ferocious volley into the roof of the net to draw Sir Bobby Robson's side on level terms before Li Tie's own goal in the dying stages completed a late comeback.
Schmeichel Shocked Vs Aston Villa (November 2001)
Shearer marked his 400th league appearance with a stunning goal as the Magpies breezed past Aston Villa in a 3-0 home win during the 2001/02 Premiership.
Despite Craig Bellamy netting a brace for the hosts in the top-flight encounter, the Newcastle captain would grab the headlines after doubling his side's lead in style five minutes after the restart.
As Rob Lee's floated cross found the striker at the right-hand side of the Villa box, the forward produced a wonderful side-footed volley beyond a stagnant Peter Schmeichel, before electing for a cool two-armed salute rather than his iconic one-armed celebration.
The First of Many Vs Wimbledon (August 1996)
After completing a £15 million move to his boyhood club from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 1996, Shearer marked his Magpies home debut in terrific fashion after netting a late free-kick in a 2-0 victory against Wimbledon.
With the full-time whistle approaching and United ahead courtesy of David Batty's early strike, Shearer made sure of the victory with a curling 25-yard free-kick in front of the Leazes End, his first goal of what would be a club-record 206 goals for the Magpies.
It was a stunning debut season on Tyneside for Shearer, who netted an impressive 25 goals in 31 league matches for Kevin Keegan's side, winning the 1996/97 Golden Boot in the process.
A Toon Ton Vs Manchester United (November 2002)
Despite suffering a 5-3 defeat against Manchester United, Shearer reached the landmark of 100 Premier League goals for Newcastle United following an outrageous finish at Old Trafford.
Trailing 3-1 at half-time, a free-kick was laid off into the prolific number nine's path who unleashed a powerful effort into the top right-hand corner beyond World Cup winning goalkeeper Fabien Barthez.
Having netted an eye-catching 112 goals in 138 league matches for Blackburn before his arrival at Newcastle, the former England skipper became the first player to score a century of top-flight strikes for two different clubs.
Turn and Finish Vs Chelsea (April 2004)
Newcastle came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at St. James' Park, with Shearer grabbing the winner with a sensational demonstration of strength and goalscoring ability.
After Joe Cole gave the Blues an early lead, the Magpies equalised before the half-time whistle through Shola Ameobi before Shearer sent the hosts into the lead with another memorable strike.
After picking the ball up from distance, the striker brushed off World Cup winning defender Marcel Desailly, producing a quick turn before arrowing a beautiful strike into the far corner.
Howay 5-0 Vs Manchester United (October 1996)
Arguably one of Newcastle United's greatest Premier League victories, Shearer got his name onto the scoresheet as the Magpies thrashed Manchester United in a 5-0 victory at St. James' Park.
Kevin Keegan's Entertainers netted twice in the opening half following strikes from Darren Peacock and David Ginola before Les Ferdinand added Newcastle's third, courtesy of Shearer's wonderful cross from the right wing which left Shearer taunting the Red Devils supporters having received a chorus of boos before providing the assist.
Having marked his Newcastle debut with a forgettable 4-0 defeat against Alex Ferguson's side in the 1996 Charity Shield, Shearer grabbed the hosts' fourth with a close-range finish, with Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler producing the iconic line 'Shearer, of course!'.
The Record Breaker Vs Portsmouth (February 2006)
A moment which will live long in the memory of Newcastle supporters, Shearer etched his name into United's history books after scoring a club-record 201st goal in a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth at St. James' Park.
Managed by temporary boss Glenn Roeder, the Magpies took the lead through Frenchman Charles N'Zogbia before the home crowd were sent into a wild frenzy as their local hero netted the significant second goal.
After equalling Jackie Milburn's all-time Newcastle goalscoring record in the FA Cup against Mansfield Town, Shearer made the goalscorers' crown his own in his 394th outing for his hometown club, racing through on goal following Shola Ameobi's neat flick before powering home a clinical finish in front of a delighted Gallowgate End.
The Last Game, the Last Goal Vs Sunderland (April 2006)
Newcastle came from behind against local rivals Sunderland to seal an emphatic 4-1 win at the Stadium of Light, with Shearer netting an unstoppable penalty in what would be the forward's final game of an 18-year professional career.
Justin Hoyte gave the relegated Black Cats a first-half lead before three goals in six second-half minutes turned the Wear-Tyne derby on its head.
After substitute Michael Chopra equalised for the Magpies, the visitors were awarded a penalty barely a minute later and, in usual fashion, Shearer confidently dispatched the spot-kick before celebrating in front of a jubilant away end.
Sadly, the Gosforth-born striker's 206th goal for the club would be his last after being withdrawn through injury, bringing a premature end to a glittering career and a dazzling decade on Tyneside.
