Then, also like the past two seasons, the Magpies face a trip to a newly-promoted side in their second fixture as last season's Sky Bet Championship winners Norwich City welcome United to Carrow Road on Saturday, 17th August.

Next up will be a first visit to Tottenham's new stadium at White Hart Lane before a home game against FA Cup finalists Watford - who United beat 1-0 last term to record their first win of the season - takes Newcastle into the first international break of the season.

They return after that with a clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, 14th September.

Newcastle will meet Sheffield United for the first time in the top flight since 2007 when they travel to Bramall Lane on Tuesday, 3rd December, with the Blades coming to Tyneside on Saturday, 14th March.

On Boxing Day, the Magpies are away to Manchester United before they round off the calendar year at home to Everton and kick off 2020 with a New Year's Day home game against Leicester City.

After an agreement in June 2018 between The Football Association, the Premier League and EFL, the 2019/20 Premier League season will be the first to feature a mid-season player break.

The Premier League will split one round of matches in February over two weekends, with five matches on the weekend commencing 8 February 2020 and five on the weekend commencing 15th February.

All five matches on each weekend will be broadcast live in the UK. The split of the matches will be decided when the UK broadcast picks for the month of February 2020 are announced.

The approximate date for this announcement is 14th December 2019.

United end the campaign at home to Liverpool on Sunday, 17th May.
