Mauricio Pochettino’s side ran out 2-0 winners at St. James’ Park on the opening day of the 2017/18 campaign, with Dele Alli and Ben Davies on target for Spurs following Jonjo Shelvey’s dismissal.

They will return to Tyneside on Saturday, 11th August, before the Magpies – again, just as they did last year – take on a newly-promoted outfit in their first away game.

This time out, it will be Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City who provide the opposition, the Bluebirds having returned to the top flight following a four-year absence.

United then welcome Chelsea to St. James’ Park before heading to reigning champions Manchester City ahead of the first international break of the campaign. They return to action on Saturday, 15th September against another Premier League heavyweight, Arsenal, with the Gunners now under the watch of Spaniard Unai Emery.

The Magpies travel to Rafa Benítez’s former club, Liverpool, on Boxing Day before rounding off the calendar year at Watford. 2019 begins in exciting fashion, with Manchester United the visitors to St. James’ Park on New Year’s Day.

Newcastle break new ground – in a sense – on Saturday, 2nd February, when they play Tottenham in the return fixture. Spurs’ new home – built largely on the White Hart Lane site – is likely to be ready early into the campaign.

For the first time since 2013/14, the Magpies end the season away from home, with a trip to another promoted side, Fulham, scheduled for Sunday, 12th May.
