Murphy spent her youth career with Chelsea Women and made her senior debut for the Women's Super League side in 2019 before, in 2021, taking in a loan spell with Birmingham City as a teenager.

The Republic of Ireland international has since spent time with North Carolina Tar Heels and Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the American college system, scoring 21 goals across 74 appearances in the States.

She represented England at youth level before earning full honours with Ireland. She made her United debut at Southampton Women in February 2025, coming on as a substitute with her new team 2-0 down and helping to change the game as the Magpies went on to draw 2-2.
