Newcastle United Under-21s will find out their 2020/21 EFL Trophy group stage opponents on Tuesday afternoon

The draw will be made live on talkSPORT at approximately 1.30pm (BST) and the Magpies - one of 16 invited Premier League Academy sides - will be ball number seven.

The competition is regionalised at this stage and Newcastle will be placed into one of eight groups in the Northern section.

United were knocked out in the group stages last season, but reached the last 16 in 2018/19 before being beaten by eventual finalists Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Newcastle's first match of the competition would be earmarked for the week commencing 7th September 2020, with the second pencilled in for the week beginning 5th October 2020 and the third fixture scheduled for the week of 9th November. However, clubs can mutually agree on a move from the scheduled date to a more convenient date for both sides, while Carabao Cup commitments will also be taken into account.
