Fan-funded supporters group Wor Flags is preparing for one of its biggest ever displays at Newcastle United’s final match of the 2017/18 season at St. James’ Park.

To make the display a success, the group is asking supporters to be in their seats a few minutes earlier than usual when Newcastle United host Chelsea at 3pm (BST) on Sunday.

The group said: "Through the immense generosity of Newcastle United supporters around the world, Wor Flags have been able to raise over £3,000 to help us celebrate everything that this group of players and staff have achieved over the past two years.

"We are aiming to pull off our biggest ever display when Rafa, Jamaal and the rest of the lads take to the pitch for the final time this season, and we hope it will encapsulate the fight, desire, hunger and unity that has been shown by the fans, players and staff alike.

"Because of the aforementioned donations, we have been able to buy more than 12,000 black and white foils, which will engulf the Gallowgate End prior to kick off and turn it into the imposing sea of noise and a blanket of black and white that we know it can be.

"We’re asking anybody that sits in the Gallowgate to please be in their seats five minutes prior to kick-off so they can take part and hold one of the foils above their heads that we have left on their seats for them."

As well as 12,000 foils, the group has also produced its biggest ever banner, which will span the entire Gallowgate End.

The group added: "This is our thank you to the lads for all of the effort they have put in to get Newcastle United back on the right track and giving us fans optimism for the future once again.

"On top of this, the group have also had several new massive hand wavers made which will be scattered around the two corners of the Gallowgate and we would love it if the supporters in those seats would join us and wave them in unity to show our appreciation as fans for everything that the team and staff have done this season.

"So please join us at St. James’ Park and be in your seats early on Sunday to help us pull off the biggest display we have ever attempted and give Newcastle United the end of season send off they deserve."
