The youngsters have hit a purple patch in their previous five league matches, collecting four wins as they lie one point shy of the second tier's play-off spots, whilst netting an eye-catching 33 goals in 14 matches.
After claiming an important three points at rivals Sunderland, recovering from a two-goal deficit to stage a 3-2 comeback, United's second string can now climb into the top four with a victory over the Baggies.
Wilson was keen to highlight the strength in character shown by the squad to get into their current league position, and the 18-year-old expects to build on that momentum with eight league fixtures remaining.
"I feel we have been on a good run lately, earning many points that we've deserved," Wilson told nufc.co.uk. "In some games earlier this season, we've played really well but did not get the results that we wanted so I think it's coming together following our strong performances and managing to pick up wins.
"Even when we go behind by a goal or two, we never think it's over. A lot of the players have a good mindset, keeping their heads up and always thinking they can come back. The forwards have good mindsets in scoring goals and always have that determination to turn it around in our favour.
"The group always stick together, even when things aren't going well and the team are feeling low. We work very well with each other and can certainly gain a lot more points in the league than we already have.
"We've done well so far this season, especially in the Checkatrade Trophy, and we made a lot of people proud in getting to the last 16 of the competition. Everyone in the changing room knows we can still finish well in the league and the other cups we remain in, so it's still a strong atmosphere."
Wilson, who made his international debut with England under-18s in March last year, was part of the United squad that reached the Premier League 2 division two play-off final in 2017, when they suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against West Ham United.
The teenager has faced competition from the likes of Achraf Lazaar in solidifying a regular spot on the left wing, and has expressed his desire to battle for his place and replicate the achievement of two years ago.
"When it gets towards those late stages in the season, you're always wanting to play in those matches as they are something to play for," Wilson added.
"It was a great experience (reaching the play-off final) and hopefully we can repeat it again if we can finish high in the league.
"It gets yourself used to playing in front of bigger crowds and at St. James' Park which we can hopefully do again by reaching the play-offs.
"There's always competition for myself as the team have a lot of wingers. It's one of the most popular positions but when there are people ahead of you, you always want to play better than them and work harder to get into the squad.
"Every day in training, I always try to prove myself by giving my all and doing my best every time I step out onto the pitch."
