Newcastle United will face Premier League new boys Norwich City in a pre-season friendly ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Magpies will welcome Daniel Farke’s newly-promoted side to St. James’ Park on Saturday, 7th August, with kick-off set for 2pm.

The game takes place the weekend before United entertain West Ham United in their opening Premier League game on Sunday, 14th August (2pm kick-off).

And the clash with Farke’s side is the first home friendly confirmed by Newcastle prior to the start of the new season, with trips to York City, Harrogate Town, Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United and Burton Albion already in the diary for July.

Ticket details for the visit of the Canaries, as well as Steve Bruce’s men’s other pre-season friendlies, will be confirmed in due course.

The Norwich squad contains some faces which will be familiar to Magpies fans, with goalkeeper Tim Krul having played a crucial role in helping to secure their return to the top flight last term.

The Dutchman was a popular figure at St. James’ Park, making almost 200 appearances for the club during a 12-year spell.

And centre back Grant Hanley, who spent the 2016/17 season on Tyneside, is also a key part of Farke’s squad.

The Scotland defender won the Championship with Newcastle, before repeating the feat twice after his move to Carrow Road.

Magpies head coach Steve Bruce also played for the Canaries between 1984 and 1987, in between spells at Gillingham and Manchester United.
