Newcastle United Under-21s' Premier League 2 clash away at Leicester City has been abandoned due to a medical emergency.

The young Magpies conceded twice in the opening 23 minutes at the LCFC Training Ground following strikes from Will Alves and Chris Popov before Dylan Stephenson’s quick-fire brace towards the half-hour mark drew the visitors level.

With the game situated at 2-2, however, the league encounter was abandoned due to medical assistance being required for a Leicester City staff member, resulting in the postponement of the fixture.

A rescheduled date and kick-off time for Newcastle United’s Premier League 2 clash against the Foxes counterparts will be confirmed on nufc.co.uk in due course.
