Newcastle United's under-16 side finished third in Group A of the Boys' Premier Section at the SuperCupNI on Wednesday, advancing to the Vase semi-finals.

The young Magpies, who reached the final of the competition in 2019 before losing out to Valencia with a squad involving Elliot Anderson and Joe White, kicked off their group campaign in Northern Ireland on Monday with a 2-0 win against Northeast Rush before, the following day, suffering a 2-0 loss against Tyrone.

Iain Bogie’s side were then held to a 1-1 draw against Antrim, finishing three points adrift of top spot, and will lock horns with Fermanagh in the SuperCupNI Vase semi-finals on Thursday, 27th July (kick-off 4pm BST), with the winner of the tie facing either Brighton & Hove Albion or St. Kevins in the final on Friday, 28th July (kick-off 6pm BST).

Newcastle last won the tournament, formerly known as the Milk Cup, in 1989 as well as reaching the final in 2012 with a team including Freddie Woodman, Adam Armstrong, Rolando Aarons and Jamie Sterry.
