November is promising to be a pivotal period for Becky Langley's side, who have made a strong start to their first season in the Barclays Women's Championship. They currently sit in fifth place, five points shy of leaders Birmingham City Women.

United will take on the Blues at St. Andrew's in their next league game, before a trip to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City Women - but the big date in Magpies supporters' diaries is Sunday, 17th November, when Langley's team return to St. James' Park to take on Southampton Women.

There are hopes that they could be cheered on by a record crowd for that game, with tickets on sale here, and the majority of the Newcastle squad - minus Shania Hayles and Lois Joel, who have linked up with the Jamaica and Wales squads respectively - trained this week as usual. Harriet Massey was there to bring newcastleunited.com this gallery.
