Callum Wilson returns to the Newcastle United starting line-up ahead of Saturday's Premier League away encounter at Wolverhampton Wanderers (kick-off 5.30pm BST).

The Magpies make the trip to Molineux targeting a sixth victory in their last seven Premier League matches and Howe has made one change from the side which suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund at St. James’ Park as Wilson replaces Swedish frontman Alexander Isak, who was withdrawn in the opening stages on Wednesday night following a groin injury.

Nick Pope, targeting a fifth English top-flight clean sheet of the 2023/24 season, continues in-between the sticks behind a four-man defence containing Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles and Dan Burn.

Sean Longstaff, who made his 100th competitive appearance for his boyhood club in last season’s 1-1 draw at Molineux, starts in the middle of the park alongside Brazilian duo Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton.

Miguel Almirón, who netted the winning goal in Newcastle’s previous encounter against Wolves - a 2-1 triumph at St. James’ Park in March - and Anthony Gordon are named on the flanks and will aim to provide attacking support for Wilson, who currently sits in joint-third place of United's all-time Premier League goalscoring list alongside Andy Cole and Shola Ameobi on 43 strikes.

On the substitutes’ bench, Swedish right-back Emil Krafth has been named in a United matchday squad for the first time since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in August 2022.

Joe Willock, who made his first Newcastle appearance since April 2023 in a second half outing against Dortmund earlier this week, could also be introduced on the bench along with defensive quartet Tino Livramento, Paul Dummett, Lewis Hall and Matt Targett.

Goalkeeping pair, Martin Dúbravka and Mark Gillespie, as well as Matt Ritchie complete the list of players who could be deployed by Howe if needed.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Jamaal Lascelles (c), Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton, Miguel Almirón, Anthony Gordon, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Martin Dúbravka, Mark Gillespie, Emil Krafth, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Paul Dummett, Matt Targett, Matt Ritchie, Joe Willock.
