Callum Wilson will start his first Premier League game of the season when Newcastle United travel to Liverpool on Wednesday night (kick-off 8:15pm GMT).

The frontman will make just his ninth outing of 2024/25 so far at Anfield as head coach Eddie Howe makes two changes to his side for the clash with the league leaders, with Sandro Tonali also brought into the starting 11.

Nick Pope retains his place in goal, with Tino Livramento, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn and Lewis Hall in the now-familiar back four.

Tonali comes in for Lewis Miley to take his place in midfield alongside captain Bruno Guimarães and Joe Willock.

And Wilson will line up at centre forward in place of Alexander Isak, who misses out with a slight groin problem. Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon once again provide support from the flanks.

There are two goalkeepers on the bench - Martin Dúbravka and John Ruddy - along with defenders Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth and Matt Targett.

Miley is among the substitutes too along with another midfielder in Sean Longstaff, while Harvey Barnes and William Osula are the more attacking options named by Howe.
