Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has named an unchanged starting XI ahead of the Magpies' Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Southampton on Tuesday night (kick-off 8pm GMT).

The Magpies make the long trip to the South Coast ahead of their first cup semi-final since 2005 and Howe has made no changes from the side which were held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend.

Nick Pope, targeting a tenth clean sheet in a row across all competitions this evening, continues in between the sticks behind a four man defence involving Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn.

Bruno Guimarães and Joe Willock, who were both on target in a 4-1 away win against the Saints in November, both begin in the middle of the park along with Sean Longstaff.

Miguel Almirón, who opened the scoring in the recent Premier League encounter against Southampton, and Joelinton will aim to provide attacking support from the flanks for striker Callum Wilson.

There is just one change amongst the substitutes' bench, too, as goalkeeper Karl Darlow comes in for Martin Dúbravka, who is cup-tied after featuring for Manchester United in the earlier rounds of this season's competition.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Jacob Murphy, who both provided an assist each against Southampton earlier this term, are available for Howe to deploy from the bench along with Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who has netted three goals in 341 minutes of competitive action for the Magpies.

Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Ritchie, Javier Manquillo and Jamal Lewis are also included as well as 20-year-old Elliot Anderson, who was not born when his boyhood club last played in a domestic cup final back in 1999.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier (c), Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimarães, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Miguel Almirón, Joelinton, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Jamal Lewis, Matt Ritchie, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy, Allan Saint-Maximin, Alexander Isak.
