Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has made three changes to his side for Sunday's Premier League game at Manchester City, with Jamaal Lascelles, Sean Longstaff and Chris Wood all handed starts at the Etihad Stadium (4:30pm kick-off).

United face the champions just over a week on from a 1-0 defeat to another title-chasing side Liverpool at St. James' Park, with Howe opting to shuffle his pack to include the trio – while Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson could also make their long-awaited returns from injury after being named on the bench for the clash with Pep Guardiola's men.

Martin Dúbravka is in goal, with head coach going with a back four of Emil Krafth, captain Lascelles, Dan Burn and Matt Targett, with Fabian Schär – who was withdrawn injured in last weekend's loss to the Reds – named as a substitute.

Longstaff is restored to the Magpies’ midfield at the expense of Jonjo Shelvey, with Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton also deployed in the engine room.

That leaves Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almirón to provide support for frontman Wood in attack, with Joe Willock giving way to accommodate the New Zealand international.

Trippier and Wilson, who have been out since February and December respectively, are back to provide United with a timely boost, with Schär and Jacob Murphy joining them as substitutes.

Karl Darlow, Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie are also named, along with Javier Manquillo and Dwight Gayle.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Dan Burn, Matt Targett; Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton; Allan Saint-Maximin, Chris Wood, Miguel Almirón.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Kieran Trippier, Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär, Paul Dummett, Jacob Murphy, Dwight Gayle, Callum Wilson.
