After Friday night’s thumping 4-0 win over Girona FC, Eddie Howe’s take on the French outfit in what will be their final outing of pre-season – with some silverware on the line too.
And head coach Howe has shuffled his pack for the clash with the Ligue 1 side, handing minutes to players who didn’t feature on Friday, including Bruno Guimarães, Fabian Schär and Miguel Almirón, while also giving Danish frontman Osula – who completed his move to Tyneside on Thursday – his first taste of action at St. James’.
Martin Dúbravka starts in goal, with Kieran Trippier wearing the captain’s armband and lining up alongside Schär, Lloyd Kelly and Jamal Lewis in defence.
Alfie Harrison is handed a start in the middle of the park alongside Guimaräes and Joe Willock, while Harvey Barnes and Almirón are deployed on the flanks in support of Osula in attack.
There are two goalkeepers – Odysseas Vlachodimos and Mark Gillespie – on the bench along with Harrison Ashby, while the rest of the youthful substitutes list comprises Cathal Heffernan, Ellis Stanton, Travis Hernes, Johnny Emerson, Anthony Munda and Leo Shahar.
Trevan Sanusi – who impressed after being brought on against Girona on Friday – is also on the bench.
