Sean Longstaff has been handed his first Premier League start of the season as Newcastle United take on Everton at St. James' Park (kick-off 2pm GMT).

The Geordie midfielder has made three top-flight appearances for the Magpies so far this term, all as a substitute, and is the only change from the Newcastle side which drew 1-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers last week as the 23-year-old comes in for Ryan Fraser, who drops to the bench.

Karl Darlow starts in goal while Jamaal Lascelles, who was withdrawn at Wolves with a foot injury has been declared fit to face the Toffees. Federico Fernández and Fabian Schar also keeping their places, with the Swiss international set to make his 50th Premier League appearance.

Jacob Murphy, who capped his first league outing for Newcastle since December 2018 by netting an impressive free-kick against Wolves, also starts at St. James' Park and is likely to play as a right wing-back, with Jamal Lewis occupying the left-hand side.

Jeff Hendrick will line up in midfield while Callum Wilson leads the line for Steve Bruce's side and will be supported by Miguel Almirón and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Defender Ciaran Clark is named on the bench along with Isaac Hayden, Joelinton and Andy Carroll.
