Joelinton returns to the starting eleven ahead of Newcastle United's Premier League trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm BST).

The 26-year-old Brazilian, who started the Magpies' previous two league matches on the bench, has been handed a start against Erik ten Hag's Red Devils, the sole change from Newcastle's 5-1 thrashing of Brentford last weekend, with Joe Willock named as a substitute.

There is also a place in the matchday squad for Jonjo Shelvey, with the 30-year-old returning from a hamstring injury sustained in July during United's pre-season friendly against Benfica in Lisbon.

Nick Pope, targeting his 50th Premier League clean sheet, continues in-between the sticks for the Magpies whilst Fabian Schär and Sven Botman partner each other in central defence, with Kieran Trippier - captaining the Magpies this afternoon - and Dan Burn, occupying the respective flanks.

Bruno Guimarães, who netted a terrific brace in last week's thumping win over Brentford, retains his place in the middle of the park along with fellow midfielder Sean Longstaff.

Newcastle's current top goalscorer Miguel Almirón, who has netted three goals in his last two league fixtures, and Jacob Murphy, who was on target against Brentford last week, will aim to provide attacking support to striker Callum Wilson, who has scored three goals in five Premier League matches so far this term.

Eddie Howe has a selection of attacking options to deploy from the bench, including Chris Wood, Ryan Fraser and Elliot Anderson.

Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Targett, Jamal Lewis and goalkeeper Loris Karius make up the substitutes' bench.
