The Frenchman did not get off the bench against Burton Albion earlier this week, but returns to the left flank as the Magpies look to go back to the top of the table at Hillsborough.

Chancel Mbemba retains his place in the starting XI, the Congelese defender set to make his first Championship appearance away from St. James’ Park since September’s win at Derby County.

Mbemba partners Jamaal Lascelles in the heart of the backline, with Paul Dummett and Vurnon Anita either side.

Mohamed Diame again takes up a deep-lying role, alongside Jonjo Shelvey. Matt Ritchie will look to continue his rich vein of form from the wing, with Spaniard Ayoze Perez playing just off leading goalscorer Dwight Gayle.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is named among the Magpies’ substitutes, the frontman having been left out of Benitez’s squad against Burton on Tyneside.
