Anthony Gordon has recovered from the groin injury which kept him out of the weekend's Premier League defeat to Chelsea and returns to the starting XI for the visit of the Blues in the Carabao Cup (kick-off 7:45pm GMT).

The England international's inclusion is one of five changes to the team which narrowly lost at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Emil Krafth, Lloyd Kelly, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock also coming into Eddie Howe's side.

Tino Livramento, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimarães, Harvey Barnes and Miguel Almirón are the players who make way; all of them are named among the substitutes.

Nick Pope is in goal, having been rested for the 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the last round. Martin Dúbravka, who was between the posts that night, is on the bench.

Fabian Schär captains the side while Longstaff will hope to celebrate his 27th birthday by helping United reach the quarter-final stage. Alexander Isak continues up front, having scored against Chelsea in the league.
