Eddie Howe has made four changes to his starting XI for Newcastle United's third game in a week - and second match in four days - against Southampton (kick-off 2pm BST)

Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak all come into the side, with Matt Targett, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almirón and Callum Wilson coming out.

Longstaff has a foot injury, while top scorer Wilson - who netted twice at Everton in midweek - is on the bench, as are Targett and Almirón. Jamaal Lascelles is missing from the squad due to injury.

Nick Pope is in goal, with Kieran Trippier captaining the team from right-back. Burn, who was ill in the build-up to the Everton clash on Thursday, returns at left-back while Sven Botman partners Fabian Schär in the centre of defence.

Longstaff's absence will likely mean a change of system in midfield, where Bruno Guimarães is set to link up with Joe Willock and Joelinton, allowing Gordon and Jacob Murphy to support main frontman Isak.

Paul Dummett and Jamal Lewis are both among the substitutes, along with Targett, Almirón and Wilson. Also on the bench are Martin Dúbravka, Javier Manquillo, Matt Ritchie and Elliot Anderson.
