Federico Fernández and Ryan Fraser are among those to be named in Newcastle United's starting line-up ahead of Wednesday's Premier League trip to Leeds United.

Steve Bruce's side travel to Elland Road in search of a third consecutive league win and there are four changes to the side which defeated West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, with Jacob Murphy and Jeff Hendrick also earning starts.

Karl Darlow maintains his place in between the sticks, while Murphy - who provided an excellent assist in the 2-1 win against the Baggies - is likely to feature at right-back.

Fernández missed out on the Magpies' victory against Albion after testing positive for COVID-19 but the Argentine centre-back wears the captain's armband tonight and  partners Ciaran Clark at the heart of Newcastle's defence while Jamal Lewis occupies the left flank.

After an impressive defensive display at the weekend, Isaac Hayden could retain his centre-back spot against the Whites while there are places in midfield for Sean Longstaff and Jeff Hendrick.

Fraser, who sustained a hamstring injury last month, is named in the Magpies' starting eleven for the first time since United's win against Everton at St. James' Park, with the Scotland international registering an assist in a 2-1 victory.

Joelinton, who provided an assist for Newcastle's opening goal against West Brom, starts his fourth consecutive league game and will provide support for Callum Wilson, who is targeting an eighth Premier League goal of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Mark Gillespie returns to the bench while there are also spots for Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie and Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle United: Karl Darlow, Jacob Murphy, Isaac Hayden, Federico Fernández (c), Ciaran Clark, Jamal Lewis, Jeff Hendrick, Sean Longstaff, Ryan Fraser, Joelinton, Callum Wilson.

Substitutes: Mark Gillespie, Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Miguel Almirón, Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll.
