Ciaran Clark will captain Newcastle United as they return to Premier League action against Burnley on Monday night (8pm kick-off).

United face Sean Dyche’s men at Turf Moor, with Magpies boss making just the one change from the team that beat Bournemouth 2-1 just over a fortnight ago.

That solitary change is an enforced one, with Clark – who will wear the armband for Newcastle – coming into the starting line-up in place of Paul Dummett, who suffered an injury while on international duty with Wales.

Martin Dúbravka continues in goal, with Clark slotting in at left back in a four-man defence including DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schär and Federico Fernández.

Matt Ritchie and Kenedy start on the flanks in midfield, with Mo Diamé partnering Ki Sung-yueng in the middle.

And Ayoze Pérez will provide support for frontman Salomón Rondón in attack.

Freddie Woodman is named on the bench, along with Javier Manquillo, Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey, who is back from injury.

And Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu and Joselu complete the list of players Benítez can call upon during the televised clash.

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka; DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schär, Federico Fernández, Ciaran Clark; Matt Ritchie, Mo Diamé, Ki Sung-yueng, Kenedy; Ayoze Pérez; Salomón Rondón.

Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Javier Manquillo, Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey, Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu, Joselu.
