Lifelong Magpies supporter Amber-Keegan Stobbs says that signing for Newcastle United Women "feels like a dream"

Stobbs, 30, is the latest addition to Becky Langley's squad for the start of the 2023/24 season and brings with her a wealth of experience above the division which the Magpies find themselves in next term.

"It is amazing, it is surreal," she said. "I am kind of still (thinking) 'is this real?'. It's a dream.

"It's always been a dream of mine but it was an out-of-reach dream, just because of the structure of women's football back then. It's not often I am lost for words, but with this I am.

"I am waiting for it to (sink in) and I have one of those moments like, 'wow.' I will get completely emotional about it because it's amazing."

Stobbs, who has family ties to the North East - her father, Kevin, is from Consett and loved Kevin Keegan - is confident the Magpies can do something special in their upcoming season in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division.

"As a team, even in my first session we were talking about what we want to achieve, how we will do it, and the culture that we want (to create)," she added.

"Yes, it's a journey and if we do it as best as we can and trust the process... I do feel the aims of the players, the staff and the individuals are very high, but also they are very achievable.

"I was really impressed with the standard. If I was in the Championship and I came to our training, I would be like, 'we are going to have a good season.'

"(We will set) small goals and bigger goals (and) we will focus on that but also having a great, consistent season where we play good football, playing together very well and representing the club very well on and off the pitch."

With a host of knowledge from her time with the likes of Lewes FC Women and Watford Women, Stobbs explained what she hopes to bring to Langley's side.

"I bring a lot of experience, on and off the pitch," she said. "That is being a professional player, a (professional) person and the mental side of the game.

"I am very authentically myself, unapologetically myself, but I do feel that's accepted here.

"I pride myself on being a good team-mate. (I put the) badge before my name and it's an honour. I just feel like I'll bring everything I can and always give 100 per cent."
