Striker visits Collingwood Primary School in North Tyneside

The United star took the time to join in with the activities of the day, much to the delight of the budding young footballers.

Entering its third year in the North East, Tesco Bank Junior Players is a flagship community coaching programme jointly delivered by the Foundation of Light, Newcastle United Foundation and Newcastle Eagles Community Foundation.

The initiative provides funding to give school children in the North East the opportunity to get fit and active by taking part in physical activity and receiving expert tuition from highly qualified coaches.

This unique programme is first time the three Foundations have collaborated on such a project.

Tesco Bank Junior Players aims to improve sports participation in primary schools, whilst also providing volunteering opportunities for Tesco staff to give back to their local communities.

Newcastle United Foundation will deliver the programme to more than 5,000 primary school children in 2018/19.

Salomón Rondón said: "When I went to the Foundation Dinner earlier this month I was impressed by all the work they do. I wanted to come and see for myself how they help people. It has been great to learn more about the Foundation and the Tesco Bank Junior Players programme."
