New Under-21s Lead Coach Diarmuid O’Carroll takes charge of the young Magpies for the first time when they take on Blackburn Rovers under-21s at Whitley Park on Friday night.

And supporters will be able to watch the game, which kicks off at 19:00 (BST), live and exclusive on the Official Newcastle United App.

Last week's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United's under-21s was also shown live on the App, which was launched last month.

The young Magpies started the season with a 1-1 derby draw with Sunderland before beating Spurs 1-0, with Ben Parkinson on target.

They slipped to a 1-0 loss to Derby in their third league match, but responded with a 2-2 draw at Bradford City in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy before beating the League Two side 4-3 on penalties.

O'Carroll - who arrived at the Newcastle United Academy from Scottish Premiership side St Mirren, where he was assistant to Buddies manager Stephen Robinson - will be hoping to help some of the Magpies' youngsters progress to Eddie Howe's first team set-up.

Admission for Friday's Premier League 2 clash is free for Newcastle United season ticket holders, otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions.

But fans who can't make the match can watch for free - anywhere in the world - via the Official Newcastle United App.
