Newcastle United Under-18s fell to a 1-0 home defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.

Chris Moore's side trailed at the half-time break as attacking midfielder, Conor McLeod netted for the visitors at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy.

The Toon teenagers faced a number of injury issues prior to the contest, handing starts to 15-year-old midfielders Sam Alabi, Michael Mills and Luke Gilligan, and were unable to grab an all-important equaliser in the second-half as United's youngsters succumbed to a narrow defeat on Tyneside.

Newcastle United Under-18s return to league action on Saturday, 28th September when facing an away clash against Liverpool (kick-off 1pm BST).

Newcastle United Under-18s: Tyler Jones, Henry Johnson (Jack Patterson 82), Guy Bloomer, Logan Watts, Luke Craggs (c) (Thomas Old 82), Sam Alabi (Mason Miley 56), Matheos Ferreira, Luke Gilligan, Joe Brayson, Ethan Ndiweni (Noah Morgan 65), Michael Mills.

Subs not used: Will Anderson.
