Newcastle United and Newcastle United Foundation are continuing their support of safeguarding and welfare in football, joining forces with The FA, Premier League and football organisations to support the Play Safe weekend of action.

Led by The Football Association, Play Safe is a national campaign that is endorsed by the NSPCC and will be supported this weekend across every level of English football, including the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women's Super League and Barclays Women's Championship, and across the grassroots game.

Newcastle United and Newcastle United Foundation are raising awareness of the Play Safe campaign through a number of initiatives, engaging with players of all ages and parents, along with communities throughout the North East.

Support will be shown across club channels and within workshops and Foundation programmes, whilst the captains of both Newcastle United and Manchester City will wear bespoke Play Safe armbands at St. James' Park this weekend.

This year's Play Safe campaign focuses on the safeguarding role that everyone can play - coaches, players, parents/carers, spectators or volunteers - to keep children and young people safe, no matter what the football setting.

To support the campaign, a series of Know Your Role videos have been launched across England Football channels, highlighting the different roles around football and everyone’s responsibility in safeguarding.
