Lewis Miley was on international duty for England Under-17s last week as the Young Lions faced Germany in two friendly fixtures in Spain, which included a huge victory.

The 16-year-old attacking midfielder, who made his Magpies first-team debut as a substitute in a 5-0 win against Al Hilal in Riyadh last month, was the only outfield player to feature for the full duration of the first friendly fixture as England's youngsters suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Pinatar Arena, conceding three times in the opening five minutes.

However, Ryan Garry's side responded from the loss with a 6-0 thrashing of the same opposition three days later, with Miley starting in midfield before playing 75 minutes.

England Under-17s will be competing at this summer's European Under-17 Championship in Hungary which takes place between Friday, 12th May till Sunday, 4th June.

Miley, who joined Newcastle's Academy at the age of seven, was one of nine United teenagers to sign a full-time scholarship last summer.
