This will be the second time this term the 52-year-old has taken charge of an English top-flight fixture involving the Magpies as Steve Bruce's side aim to secure back-to-back wins at St. James' Park after last weekend's 2-1 home victory against West Bromwich Albion.
The Oxfordshire-born official was the man in the middle for United's 2-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Scott handed out four yellow cards that day, booking Federico Fernández and Sean Longstaff.
Promoted to the Select Group of Referees in 2015, Scott has taken charge of nine games so far this season across the Premier League, Championship and Carabao Cup.
He has issued a total of 25 yellow cards and three reds, sending off Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka in the Gunners' 1-0 home defeat against Burnley last weekend.
On Saturday, Scott will be assisted by Richard West and Derek Eaton, while Jarred Gillett will be the fourth official.
Andrew Madley will be the VAR and will be aided by Stephen Child.
