Eddie Howe's side are back on the road this week as they travel to the City Ground to face Nuno Espírito Santo's side and Brooks has been appointed for the cup tie.

The Leicestershire official oversaw three fixtures involving the Magpies last term, including Newcastle's 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at St. James' Park, sending off Reds captain Virgil van Dijk whilst booking Magpies full-back Kieran Trippier.

Brooks was the man in the middle for Newcastle's 3-1 away win against Aston Villa in January 2024, when Anthony Gordon was among five players to be booked that evening, as well as United's 3-2 loss against Chelsea in March, with Joe White one of five players to be shown a yellow card at Stamford Bridge.
