Simon Hooper will be the referee when Newcastle United face Brentford in their final game of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign on Sunday (kick-off 4pm BST).

Eddie Howe's side travel to the capital targeting European qualification in their final outing of the season and this will be the third time Hooper has officiated a fixture involving the Magpies this term.

The Burnley-born whistler was the man in the middle for United's 4-1 win against Chelsea in November and showed nine yellow cards that afternoon, booking Jamaal Lascelles, Kieran Trippier, Joelinton and Matt Ritchie as well as sending off Blues defender Reece James at St. James' Park.

The 41-year-old, a top-flight referee since 2018, oversaw Newcastle's Emirates FA Cup quarter-final defeat away at holders Manchester City in March and brandished three yellow cards in a 2-0 loss at the Etihad Stadium, booking Lascelles, Fabian Schär and Miguel Almirón.
